Dear Friends, Fans & Followers of TTI,

As some of you may know, I founded TTI as a solo training and consulting practice when The Teaching Transgender Toolkit was first published in 2014, and I left my faculty position at Widener University in 2017 to pursue TTI full time. My goal was to grow TTI into a sustainable business that offers high quality trans-related trainings, and redistribute work and money to fellow trans and non-binary educators.  

In 2018 I started expanding the team to support the increasing demands for training and consulting. With community support and a great group of passionate educators and support folks, TTI grew rapidly. Since we pivoted online for the pandemic in 2020, the team collectively developed and facilitated over 30 different trainings, webinars, and courses for over 25,000 participants across the United States. In less than 2 years, we grew into a million dollar company with a team of 20 passionate, talented trans and non-binary educators and admin folks to support them.

That growth was exhilarating, but unsustainable on multiple levels. To manage this growth, I prioritized TTI over my mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing, which ultimately resulted in my having to go out on medical leave earlier this year. After much reflection, combined with the uncertain financial climate and the increasing sociopolitical attacks targeting trans and non-binary people (including targeting organizations like ours), I made the difficult decision to lay TTI down and close the business effective June 30, 2023.  

I want to thank everyone for all the collective support over these last 8 years to make this possible. Without you, TTI would not have been able to redistribute over $1.5 million directly to transgender and non-binary people, including our own team members, outside consultants, projects, organizations, causes, and companies.

While I am sad to be laying TTI down at a time where this work and companies like TTI are needed now more than ever, the work continues on even though TTI won’t.
