Trans& Fat: Whole Bodies Whole Selves

What we know to be true, is that people are made up of overlapping and intersecting identities that influence how they are able to navigate the world and systems around them. In this webinar, we will explore how to use this intersectional framework to better understand the lived experiences of transgender and non-binary people who identify as fat and/or larger bodied. We will emphasize learning ways in which we can stop body shaming and affirm all people regardless of body size and gender identity. In doing so we’ll learn more about the historic and current medicalization of fatness and how it relates to the medicalization of transgender and gender expansive individuals.
This is the third installment in the Trans& Series continuing our exploration of the many intersections of trans identities
Participants will be able to identify:
- the definition of intersectionality
- examples of fatphobia and transphobia as well as anti trans and anti fat bias.
- the difference between healthy and skinny
