Affirming Trans Folks: Customer Service Edition
First impressions can make or break an interaction. Whether it’s talking to patients on a customer service line, greeting customers at the register or front desk, or marketing your services, people in all areas of work are interacting one on one with potential customers, clients, and patients on a daily basis.
For trans & non-binary folks, the first impression often begins with being misgendered. We all desire to treat customers with respect and intention, and we also have been taught very gendered ways of addressing individuals. This impacts a person’s interest in continuing with the service, the company, or their likelihood to follow up with appointments and further communication. This webinar will highlight the different ways that incorporating gender neutral language into your workplace can improve your customer service practices. We will talk through actions you can take right away to create a more affirming environment for everyone.
By the end of this session participants will:
- Identify 3 gender neutral terms and honorifics
- Identify 2 common microaggressions to avoid
