Transgender Specific TOT
Our primary Transgender Training TOTs is based on The Teaching Transgender Toolkit: A Facilitator’s Guide to Increasing Knowledge, Decreasing Prejudice & Building Skills. TOT participants will receive training in the current best practices in teaching transgender content, have opportunities to practice teaching, and will receive customized guidance to support implementation. Working with the materials in the book, this course helps prepare educators to implement the lesson plans included in the book and provide support around aspects of nuanced facilitation such as responding to Frequently Asked Questions, handling challenging participants, or managing resistance or social justice fatigue. Our trainings draw participants from all over the United States, and a wide variety of implementation settings, including: K-12 schools, diversity trainings, colleges and universities, public health organizations, direct service and community based organizations, and corporate environments.
Our upcoming TOTs are being held:
- June 20-22, 2017, Philadelphia, PA (Currently full, but the waitlist is open. Please email us to be added).
- July 31-Aug 2, 2017, Philadelphia, PA (Currently full, but the waitlist is open. Please email us to be added).
A limited number of scholarships are available for those who need financial support to attend our TOTs. Priority will be given to trainers who are: transgender, people of color, from under represented/high need areas, and/or do not have sponsorship from an organization to attend. (Click here for the scholarship application for our Summer 2017 TOTs — applications due April 15th.)
